Famous Moments & People in Truist Park History
Freddie Freeman
The 2021 World Series Champion Atlanta Braves – Brian Snitker, Freddie Freeman, World Series MVP Jorge Soler, and the rest of the Braves brought the Commissioner’s Trophy back to Atlanta for the first time since 1995. They defeated the Houston Astros in six games.
Acuña’s Slam – October 7th, 2018 – At age twenty, Ronald Acuña Jr.’s grand slam in Game Three of the 2018 NLDS off Walker Buehler made him the youngest player in MLB postseason history to hit a slam.
Brian Snitker – One of the nicest, most-beloved figures in the game of baseball, Brian Snitker managed the Braves for ten years, winning it all in 2021. “Snit,” as he’s known to his peers, has three things you should know about him: 1) You cannot find anyone—player, coach, or media member—who has a bad word to say about him, ever! 2) He married Ronnie, a Pittsburgh girl who grew up a Pirates fan, and 3) He spent two decades as a minor league manager, earning the trust and respect of the young prospects in the system before he won a World Series with them. Pretty damn great story!
Nick Walks it off on Opening Day! – March 29th, 2018 – Nick Markakis, capping off a 5-0 comeback on Opening Day, hammers one to right-center in the bottom of the 9th off Hector Neris for the walk-off winner. Later that year, the Braves would win the first of three straight NL East titles.
Hammerin’ Hank’s Memory in Monument Garden – An absolute MUST-SEE! Hank Aaron’s statue is smack dab in the middle of Monument Garden, along the main concourse behind home plate. Carve out time to walk through one of the best displays you’ll see in all of baseball.
