Famous Moments & People in Fenway Park History

• The 1999 All-Star Game - Ted Williams comes out on the golf cart, assisted by Tony Gwynn to throw out the ceremonial first pitch.  No baseball fan will ever forget seeing that live! 

• The Curse is OVER! 2004 World Series– This happened in St. Louis, but worth mentioning here: Keith Foulke fields a grounder off the bat of Edgar Renteria, underhand flips it to Doug Mientkiewicz, and the Red Sox are World Series Champions for the first time since 1918!  

• The Carlton Fisk Game – Game Six, 1975 World Series – It was fair!  Fisk, who entered Cooperstown in 2000, leads off the bottom of the 12th, hammering a Pat Darcy pitch over the Green Monster that barely stays fair.  The homer forces a Game Seven of the World Series, which the Cincinnati Reds would win, but Fisk’s homer would be one of most famous homers ever hit at Fenway! 

• Nomar, Ted, Rice, Pedro, Clemens, Yaz, Papi, Wade, Manny, Dustin, Mookie, Wake, Pesky, Tris…and on and on!

• 2007 World Series Champions! The Rockies, who won 21 of 22 games leading into the Fall Classic, run out of momentum and get swept by the Sox, who win their second World Series in four seasons. 

• Roberts’ steal!  Game Four, 2004 ALCS – The Sox were on the verge of getting swept by their bitter rivals, the Yankees.  Dave Roberts, in one of the gutsiest decisions in baseball history, steals second! The rest, they say, is history!  Papi walks them off, the Sox win four straight, head to World Series and sweep the Cardinals, winning their first title since 1918!

• Wally! 

• 2013 World Series Champs!  Koji Uehara strikes out Matt Carpenter to win the third World Series for the Red Sox in 10 seasons, beating the Cardinals, again, in six games!  What a run!

• The Green Monster!

• 2018 World Series Champs! – Yep, they did it again! That’s four titles in a span of 15 seasons!  Not bad, huh?
